“What is a house pet? I have no idea!”
A little background would be enlightening; I have never owned a pet
besides a few farm pigs and chickens during my earlier days in the village where
I was born. I don’t remember even having
the classic chicks or bunny like most would.
Being raised without an animal in the house has made me to consider and
maintain that animals do not belong in the house. In the past I have also been exposed to laid-back
pet owners that just reconfirmed my standpoint.
Then one day I meet someone who changed everything. The story is quite amusing as I was invited for
dinner only to arrive at his house to find this big cat lying on the couch. So I immediately thought to myself oh s...t if
he’s on the couch then it’s very probable that he must lie everywhere, even the
bed. Then the cat rose up to greet me and
I was afraid of him as I have not had much interaction with cats. I see cats in the streets and neighborhoods
and they most always avoid me rather than come towards me. The night was an experience and overall the
night went well. The next day I was thinking
“dam its true” nothing is perfect as I thought this guy just might be. Great, just my luck! I was truly disappointed that there was a pet in the house
and he was so involved with him.
Today more
than a year on I have since changed my mind.
What made me change my mind you might be asking? Well as our relationship progressed and as we
all lived together I had this certain warmth inside of me that I could not
explain and nothing similar to past experience.
My friend was great with the cat and it was interesting to see the
communication between them and that such communication was possible with “a cat”.
I may also say
that living with animals and especially the cat is not such a big deal when you
have some common coexisting rules.
Finding ways to maintaining a health and clean house is the key. Hygiene was always an issue and I will say we
have found ways to keep things happy for all. Indeed
my friend was the catalyst that has now solidified my admiration for cats and I
am thrilled to have a lifelong love affair with these furry critters. With a second cat that has arrived in our house a
whole new chapter begins for me. I hope this site helps people with similar
issues that only seem natural to me today.
