European Shorthair

European Short Hair
The European Shorthair goes back to cats that lived in Rome during the time of the Emperors.  As the Romans spread their culture throughout Europe, these cats went with them.

Temperament
The European short hair is a willing, active and clever family companion cat, giving generously love to all the people around him/here.  This is an ideal cat for people which love the natural breeds.  Most European Shorthairs are strong and healthy, and as a rule they are friendly. They get on well with other cats and tolerate dogs well. European Shorthairs are intelligent and playful, and most of them are expert at keeping houses and gardens free of mice.

Grooming
The European Shorthair is an easy going cat; their coat does not tangle and does not get dirty or knotted.  They do not need to be bathed or excessively groomed.

Appearance
The European Short hair is a muscular, medium-sized to large cat, with a broad, well-muscled chest. The legs are strong and sturdy, medium in length and narrowing steadily into firm, round paws.  The tail is fairly thick at the base, tapering to a rounded point.  The ears are medium in size, slightly rounded at the tips and may be tufted.  The height of the ears corresponds to the width of the base.  They are set well apart and fairly upright.  The eyes are round and open; widely separated and set slightly oblique.  The chin is firm, the neck medium long and muscular and the body robust, strong and muscular, but not cobby.  The coat is dense, short, soft, glossy and should lie flat.  European Short hair has its counterparts in Great Britain.
